EleFind
A browser-based tool that finds elephants in geotagged drone photos, places each verified sighting on a shared conservation map and, soon, warns the households nearest to it by SMS. Built from my final-year dissertation to help reduce human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka.
- Role
- Research, model training and full-stack build
- Stack
- Python, YOLO11, YOLO26, SAHI, Grad-CAM, Next.js
- YOLO11 model: 84.3% mAP@0.5 on a 50-image test set
- YOLO26s model: 0.90 point AP on 439 held-out full-resolution images
- SAHI tiled inference for small elephants in large survey photos
- Grad-CAM views show the model looks at the elephants, not the background
- Supervised by Chan Sri Manukalpa
